Maybe you have heard the name of Jesus your whole life. Maybe you grew up around church but never really understood what Christianity was about. Or maybe faith is completely new to you, and you are simply trying to figure out what is true.

So, who is Jesus?

Jesus is not merely a religious teacher, a wise philosopher, or a good moral example. According to the Bible, Jesus is the Son of God and the promised Messiah—the King God said would come to rescue His people and restore what sin had broken.

From the beginning, humanity was created to know God, live under His loving rule, and enjoy life with Him. But we turned away. We chose to live on our own terms instead of trusting God. The Bible calls this sin.

Sin is not only a list of bad things people do. It is the deeper decision to place ourselves on the throne of our lives—to say, in effect, “I will be my own king.”

That choice separated us from God, damaged our relationships, and brought brokenness and death into the world. We could not repair that separation by trying harder, becoming more religious, or doing enough good things.

So God came to rescue us.

Jesus entered the world as the promised Messiah. He lived the faithful, sinless life we could never live. He showed compassion to hurting people, welcomed outsiders, confronted hypocrisy, healed the sick, forgave sinners, and announced that the Kingdom of God had come near.

But Jesus did more than teach us how to live.

He gave His life for us.

Jesus willingly died on the cross, taking upon Himself the judgment our sin deserved. He was buried, and on the third day He rose from the dead. His resurrection was God’s declaration that sin and death had been defeated and that Jesus truly is the risen King.

Because of what Jesus accomplished through His death, burial, and resurrection, anyone can be forgiven, reconciled to God, and welcomed into His Kingdom.

You do not have to clean yourself up first. You do not have to pretend that you have all the answers. You do not have to earn your way to God.

You come by trusting Jesus.

That means believing that He is who He said He is, trusting what He has done for you, turning away from living as your own king, and surrendering your life to Him.

You can speak to Him honestly. You might say something like:

“Jesus, I believe You are the promised King and that You died and rose again to rescue me. I am sorry for my sin and for living life on my own terms. Please forgive me. I ask You to take over my life, become my King, and bring me into Your Kingdom. Teach me to trust You and follow You from this day forward.”

There is nothing magical about those exact words. What matters is that you are sincerely turning to Jesus in faith and giving yourself to Him.

Coming to Jesus is the beginning of a relationship with God. It is also the beginning of a new way of life.

Jesus did not simply invite people to believe certain facts about Him. He said, “Follow Me.”

Following Jesus means learning from Him, obeying Him, trusting Him, becoming more like Him, and allowing Him to reshape every part of your life. You will not do that perfectly. No Christian does. But you will not walk alone.

God gives His Spirit to those who belong to Jesus. He places us in a family of other believers. He speaks to us through Scripture, changes us over time, and teaches us how to live as citizens of His Kingdom.

You may still have questions. That is okay. Honest questions do not frighten God.

But you do not have to wait until you understand everything before taking a step toward Jesus.

If something in your heart is drawing you toward Him, talk to Him. Ask Him to reveal the truth. Read one of the Gospel accounts in the Bible—Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John—and pay attention to what Jesus says and does.

Jesus is not hiding from those who sincerely seek Him.

He is the promised Messiah, the Savior who gave His life for us, the risen King who conquered death, and the One who invites you to know God, enter His Kingdom, and follow Him.
